This project involved the complete transformation of a kitchen we originally crafted many years ago. The previous traditional dark wood design had served the property well, but our clients, having inherited it, were keen to introduce a lighter, more contemporary feel with a layout better suited to modern living.

Their brief focused on creating a bright, sociable space with improved functionality and generous storage. Central to the design is a beautifully proportioned island, thoughtfully positioned to provide seating for two while maintaining excellent circulation around the room. The island houses a venting hob with a spacious pan drawer beneath and an integrated internal bin, ensuring everyday practicality without compromising on clean lines. Perfectly scaled to the room, it sits comfortably within the available space while becoming a natural focal point.

To maximise storage, we incorporated a run of tall cabinetry housing the fridge freezer, oven and microwave, alongside a highly practical internal drawer system. Wide pan drawers and tall wall units further enhance capacity, ensuring everything has its place and surfaces remain uncluttered. An undermounted sink paired with a Quooker boiling water tap not only streamlines the worktop but also removes the need for a kettle, improving both efficiency and aesthetics.

The finished scheme balances softness and contrast. Light grey perimeter cabinetry is complemented by white mirror-flecked quartz worktops, while the navy island introduces depth and character. Black handles and a coordinating black Quooker tap provide subtle definition and cohesion throughout the space. The result is a refined, contemporary kitchen that feels light, practical and inviting — designed for everyday use while offering a confident sense of style.
