About
Our customers had lived in their Somerset home for a while before deciding to extend and renovate the whole house to suit their young family. They wanted to use local tradesmen for as much of the project as possible. They needed lots of storage space but wanted to keep an open feel to the room – they were delighted with their beautifully bright and airy kitchen, designed to complement the fabulous outlook to the garden from the full height glazed window at one end.
Detail
The cabinets, in a shaker in-frame style with a small beading are hand painted in a mixture of Sky Blue and Dorset Cream. The island with its chunky rounded legs was required for preparation and a breakfast area, along with somewhere to store the all-important wine! A traditional style canopy above the range cooker created a focal point while a mixture of cupboards and deep drawers provided ample storage.
The bespoke plate rack and open display unit with spice box drawers adds an individual touch. The oiled solid oak worksurfaces give a homely feel yet are very practical, with the hot rods fitted alongside the range cooker for hot items to be safely placed. Drainer grooves gently slope towards the double Villeroy and Boch traditional farmhouse sink.
The head of the Franke Rotaflow tap can be gently angled to all corners of the sinks for easy rinsing. There are Neff appliances including a fridge, freezer and dishwasher all hidden away behind integrated furniture doors. A pop-up socket with an integral USB point is perfectly placed on the island for use with small appliances and charging mobile phones.
